The Pencils Film and Television Institute (PEFTI) has further affirmed its leading position as the top media and vocational skill institution in Nigeria with the strategic partnership agreement it recently entered with the French and German Embassies in Nigeria. According to a statement from PEFTI, the agreement would involve collaboration on several projects in 2016 and beyond.

Already the partnership, according to the statement, has commenced with a weeklong practical workshop which included recording on-location sound for a music video shot in a busy Lagos market, Femi Kuti’s stage performance at Afrikan Shrine and film premiere of Remi Vaughan Richards Faaji Agba at Campos Square, Lagos. In 2016, PEFTI would film the French-German Day celebration on January 22, the Francophone week in March as well as other events held by both cultural centres.

PEFTI is a government approved educational establishment that runs courses in cinematography, acting, directing, scriptwriting, editing, costumes and make-up and its Managing Director, Mr. Abiola Adenuga, said signing the agreement followed several months of discussion. “We are in talks with Christine Deuve, Director of Alliance Francaise and Marc-Andre Schmachtel of Goethe Institute for a while now. But we are glad they eventually chose PEFTI for collaboration on these projects after being convinced that we have the men, machine and motivation required for the success of the campaign”.

In a related development, recognition has come for Wale Adenuga Productions’ strong commitment to positive and quality entertainment with moral values for all ages, as Nnenna and Friends and WAPTV, both WAP brands, were honoured at the 2015 edition of All Youth TUSH award. Yinka Olukunga Ademo who portrays the screen character Nnenna was awarded ‘On Screen Personality of the Year Award’ while WAPTV received the award of ‘The Best Family Entertainment TV Channel’ at an event where top entertainment personalities like Doris Simeon, Korede Bello and the actress Kehinde Bankole were also honoured.

According to the Managing Director of WAPTV Wole Adenuga, “These two awards mean so much to us because they are being given to us by thousands of Nigerian Youths who spent several weeks voting for Nnenna and WAPTV. We equally appreciate the organisers of the award for creating the platform where the youth of this great nation are able to express themselves”.

The Nnenna and Friends brand aims at providing family entertainment and development with a bias for kids through several activities which include a weekly TV game show, periodic live events, national and international educational tours and other projects.
