Ruth Isabella Peters Foundation hosts poetry workshop at Lagos school

The Ruth Isabella Peters Foundation recently held an inspiring poetry workshop at Lagos Senior Model College, Ikorodu to inspire young minds and cultivate a love for creative expression among students.

Speaking at the workshop held on December 3, 2024, the principal of the school, Oladokun Ibilola Folasade, applauded the initiative to engage and encourage the students in exploring the world of  poetry writing.

The students eagerly participated in the workshop through their worksheets, as they were guided  through  a poetry guide tool box.

They engaged in writing exercises and shared their own poems, enhancing their skills while expressing their thoughts and emotions.

The workshop not only provided students with practical skills in poetry writing but also encouraged them to express their thoughts and emotions creatively.

The workshop was taken further by a reading session, allowing selected students present their poems, showcasing their newfound skills and creativity.

The atmosphere was filled with excitement and encouragement, as peers and teachers applauded their efforts.

The founder of the foundation, Ruth Isabella, said poetry has the power to transform lives and allows individuals to express their innermost feelings and connect with others.

“I am thrilled to see such talent among the students at Lagos Senior Model College and hope to inspire them to continue exploring their creativity,” she said.

The event drew to a close with students receiving gift bags and the donation of N250,000 to the school for the rehabilitation of the restroom tiles.

The Ruth Isabella Peters Foundation continues to promote literature and the arts among young people, empowering them to find their voice through poetry.
