Winners emerge in Who Can Grab The Hot Mic season 2
Winners have emerged for Who Can Grab The Hot Mic (Season 2), a music competition to promote young music talent in North Central Nigeria.
Held April 21, 2019 at Nimat Foundation, Ankpa, Kogi State, the event saw Serah Yusuf, a student of Kogi State University beat three others in a keen contest to go home with the grand prize of N50, 000 and a free video shoot.
The yearly musical contest is organised by Jack Nation Entertainment, as a community development effort to take young people off drugs, cultism and other social vices through music. This year’s edition tagged, ‘Fire Edition’ was organised in partnership with Edushine Educational Support Foundation, a non-governmental organisation that supports education through conventional and unconventional methods.
The winner, Serah Yusuf is currently a 200 level student of Theatre Arts, Kogi State University Anyigba. She said part of the winning money would be used to produce a new track, while the remaining would take care of school fees. ‘Thank you Jack Nation for this great platform,’ she said.
CEO, Jack Nation Entertainment, Eno Jackson, urged youths in the region to use the musical contest to showcase their talents.
He said: “The process was thorough, from the audition to the grand finale. We made sure that the integrity of the event was not compromised. Our first goal was to be the biggest and the fairest music competition in North Central Nigeria.”
Paul Ugbede, Programme Director for Jack Nation Entertainment called for more partnership to widen the scope of the competition, adding that the event is a purely community development programme that needs support, especially as it does not take gate fees. He noted that this year’s outing was a success because Edushine partner with the organisers, saying they have begun planning for the 2020 edition.
The Programme Director disclosed that organisers are thinking of increasing the cash prize.
According to him, part of the money raised from sponsorship will be used to build a Youth Centre in Ankpa, equipped with a library, music studio and counseling unit.
