Yalokwu seeks up-skills of professionals, managers, regardless of their occupations

A call has been extended to academics, administrators and managers on a broad spectrum to hone their managerial and administrative competences for competitive services delivery. The appeal came during the book launch authored by Professor Patrick Yalokwu and Titled: Fundamentals of Management, Third Edition, at St Agnes Catholic Church Hall, Maryland, Lagos.

In academics, Yalokwu is a Professor of Management and Business Administration in the College of Business and Social Sciences; he was former Crawford University Deputy Vice Chancellor where he has taught courses and conducted researches in strategic management, human resources management, operations management, organisational behaviour, management theory and leadership.

He earned his Master of Business Administration (MBA) and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degrees from the University of Benin and a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Ibadan. He has served as Head, Department of Management Studies, Dean, College of Business and Social Sciences and Director of Quality Assurance Etc.

Over the past 25 years, Yalokwu has worked as a teacher, carried out research and training functions in tertiary educational institutions including University of Benin, Nigeria Institute of Management, Ethiopian Civil Service University, National University of Lesotho, University of Lagos among others.

He has published articles in numerous scholarly journals and professional publications. His research work has appeared in Management Today, Nigeria Journal of Business Administration, Management in Nigeria and NAEAP Journal.

He has valuable expertise and experience in management development training and consulting in the public and private sectors, International Journal of Development and Management review, among others. He also served on the Editorial Boards of Lesotho Social Science Review, Ife Business Review, Lagos Business School Management Review and Crawford Journal of Business and Social Sciences etc.

The event attracted Royal Father, diverse audience of scholars, academics, writers, clergymen honour, old students taught by Yalokwu in secondary school in the 1980s, and now successful and accomplished business men.

The reviewers were Professor Monday Eze from Babcock University, Iĺisan-Remo Ogun State and Dr Joshua Ogaga-Oghene at Covenant University, Ota, Ogun State.

In a passionate mood, Yalokwu was highly applauded for his tenacity, humility, resilience, scholarship, discipline and management and administration exploits.

As an admirer of scholarship, Peter Okebukola, an Emeritus Professor of Science and Computer Education congratulated Yalokwu as an Educational Ambassador in Nigeria and abroad; while he recommended the book as a must read for people at various levels, as students, lecturers, professionals and management experts of all shades in the society. To cap it, Okebukola projected the book for virtual accessibility on the Amazon lists and other Internet and World Wide Web resources.

The event came to a close with prayer said by Rev. Francis Ogo Okoh.
