American rap star, Gramzunkut, has said he was born in the hip hop temple and has over time developed special interest in African music, which he described as amazing.
The wave-making hip hop star, while speaking on his music journey, explained that he gradually made his way to the top through the streets.
“Being born in the temple of hip hop the Bronx NYC, I embraced and partook in the hip-hop scene from birth, and made my way into the entertainment industry, by doing street team promo work and gradually climbing the ladder to success where I am today,” he said.
He explained that his flair for unique African sounds has led to collaborations with some African artists in recent years.
He said: “I have always been a fan of the music coming from Africa because it is our native tongue and it is live instruments, so the sounds are amazing. As far as collaborations with artists from Africa, I’ve been doing some for some years now, salute to DonGtz & Master-kaySA.”
As a black American, Gramzunkut said legendary Tupac influenced his rap style, which according to him, is ‘Very emotional and a rollercoaster ride”.
The rapper explained that he is a fan of emerging rap styles, and of the view that hip hop as a global voice, should reflect elements of diverse cultures.
“Yes, I am a fan of all emerging sounds of hip hop. I have seen it grow from New York City to a global voice. But for hip hop to be true, we can’t expect others from different environments to be on the same theme as New York artists, because of different cultures, weather and living conditions. But we all have that same struggle to relate too,” he said.
The year 2022 has been so good for Gramzunkut. His tracks titled “Wanna Ride on My Wave” and “Whoa Girl”, have been major hits among the fans.
The rapper said it is a great feeling to be heard and understood, telling his fans to stay tuned for more ‘Globalthugz music and some cool collaborations.’
The artist disclosed that the favorite of his songs is the track titled “Lyrical Therapy: Last Twenty-Four”, adding that he also writes and consults for other artists in the music industry.
