Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has launched the pilot phase of the Adopt-A-School PBAT Feeds Programme, tagged “Snacks for Thought,” as part of efforts to improve child nutrition and learning outcomes across the state.
The initiative, unveiled on Wednesday at the Lagos Island East Local Council Development Area, is part of the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope National Home-Grown School Feeding Programme(RHNSFP).
Represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Barr. Bimbola Salu-Hundeyin, Governor Sanwo-Olu said the programme is a collaborative effort between the Federal Government, Lagos State Government and the private sector to secure a brighter future for Nigerian children.
He described the initiative as more than a school feeding programme, stressing that it is built on the belief that no child should be denied quality education because of hunger.
The governor also appealed to corporate organisations, financial institutions, charitable foundations, faith-based groups, alumni associations and other well-meaning individuals to adopt public primary schools across Lagos to support the programme.
Sanwo-Olu further unveiled the Adopt-A-School Dashboard, a digital platform designed to promote transparency by enabling sponsors to identify schools, monitor projects and track the impact of their interventions in real time.
According to the governor, the programme will not only improve school attendance and academic performance but also create economic opportunities for farmers, caterers, food processors and other local businesses through increased demand for locally sourced food.
