The President, Bloggers and Vloggers, Content Creators Association in Nigeria (BAVCCA), Ikechukwu Chukwunyere, has described Dangote Industries as a “national asset every Nigerian must protect” following a high-level visit to the Dangote Refinery in Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos.
Speaking at a press briefing held at BAVCCA’s National Secretariat in Abuja on Wednesday, Chukwunyere said he led a 15-man delegation of bloggers, vloggers, and content creators to the refinery, which he called a “pilgrimage to witness firsthand the embodiment of Nigerian ingenuity, resilience, and vision.”
“This visit was not merely a tour; it was a pilgrimage to witness firsthand the embodiment of Nigerian ingenuity, resilience, and vision,” Chukwunyere said. “Dangote Industries is not just a private enterprise—it is a national asset that every Nigerian must protect, nurture, and defend against any form of sabotage or doubt.”
During the visit, the delegation met with Edwin Devakumar, Vice President of Dangote Refinery, who shared the inspiring story behind the $20 billion project. Devakumar revealed that Alhaji Aliko Dangote, the President of the Dangote Group, sold most of his assets to fund the refinery after facing skepticism from potential investors.
Chukwunyere recounted how Devakumar “believed unwaveringly in Dangote’s vision when others doubted,” emphasizing that the refinery’s success was built on faith, passion, and resilience.
The BAVCCA President also highlighted the immense national and global impact of the refinery, which currently has an operational capacity of 650,000 barrels per day with plans to expand to 1.4 million barrels per day.
According to him, the refinery is not only reducing Nigeria’s dependency on fuel imports but also generating over 65,000 jobs, saving billions in foreign exchange, and contributing more than $55 billion annually to the economy.
He further noted the success of the Dangote Fertilizer Plant, which produces 3 million metric tonnes of urea annually—one of the largest outputs globally—helping to strengthen food security and support agricultural productivity across Africa.
Chukwunyere commended the refinery’s leadership for its dedication to national development and said BAVCCA’s visit reaffirmed the power of Nigerian innovation.
He also used the occasion to appreciate content creators across the country for defending the refinery against misinformation during recent online campaigns.
Chukwunyere also announced that BAVCCA will hold its National Conference on October 31, 2025, in Abuja, where the achievements of Dangote Refinery will be celebrated and its impact on Nigeria’s development spotlighted.
He called on Nigerians, particularly digital media practitioners, to use their platforms to promote accurate information and support national progress.
