Experts seek deepening of knowledge on gas utilisation

NNPC Limited

Nigeria Oil and Gas sector

There is a need for entrepreneurs, at different levels of the gas ecosystem, to deepen their knowledge on how Nigeria could profit from the global gas space, a former executive director of the then Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Dr. David Ige, has said.

He said this in a resource manual on gas, ‘Understanding Natural Gas – a Nigerian Perspective’, written by him and Dapo Akinosun. The manual is a historical guide as well as an educational blueprint, which traces Nigeria’s energy transition journey from the first coal plant in 1896 to today’s vast energy sector dominated by petroleum and gas.

Ige is the Founder/CEO of Gas Invest Limited and an industry veteran with over 23 years of experience. He served as NNPC’s Group Executive Director, Gas and Power from 2011 to 2015.

Akinosun is a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) and a founding Partner of SimmonsCooper Partners, a leading commercial law firm. Ige stated that the work is a product of their technical knowledge and rich experience in the local and global gas sector.

The book is a comprehensive overview of Nigeria’s gas policy journey, which students, academics, investors, lawyers and others interested in the subject will certainly find useful.
