The Yobe Government on Thursday introduced a new scale of measurement ( mudu) for traders across the 17 local government areas of the state.

Mai Mala Buni made this known while presenting the new module to the leadership of traders’ associations and Shariah committees across the state in Damaturu.

Buni, represented by his deputy, Alhaji Idi Gubana, noted that the scale would prevent consumers from being short-changed by traders.

“ The introduction of the new weighing scales will promote honesty and adherence to Sharia standards in the market, particularly during these challenging times,” he said.

In his remarks, Yusuf Umar, the Commissioner for Religious Affairs and Ethical Orientation said the scales of measurement were procured by the ministry for fair transaction between buyers and sellers.

“The introduction of the new weighing scales is critical to ending sharp practices in our markets,” he said.

He directed local government Shariah committees to ensure that the new scales were used at markets across the state.

The Emir of Damaturu, Shehu Hashimi El-Kenemi, commended the state government for the initiative, which, he said, would promote transparency and integrity in business transactions.
