CIO Africa Club celebrates innovation, leadership at awards

The CIO & C-Suite Awards 2024, hosted by the CIO Club Africa, has spotlighted the remarkable contributions of technology and business leaders across the continent.

Known for championing digital transformation and excellence, CIO Africa continues its mission to drive impactful conversations and recognise innovation that fosters growth within the African business landscape.

This year’s awards is a highlight of the CIO & C-Suite Business Summit titled AI – Empowering Africa, which took place on July 19, in Lagos. The summit convened over 200 stakeholders from across Africa, both physically and virtually. The discussions centered on AI’s transformative potential and how it can be harnessed to address Africa’s unique challenges.

Keynote speaker Director General of NITDA, Dr. Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, emphasised the importance of equipping African talent with AI and cybersecurity skills, identifying these as crucial areas for sustainable growth.

The summit also explored themes like AI’s role in economic development, digital inclusion, and how technology can be leveraged for social impact. During one of the panel sessions, Director of Technical Operations at Arise Global Media Ltd., Adetunji Ayoade, contributed insights on AI in Economic Development: Catalysing Growth and Innovation.
Founder of the CIO Africa Club, Abiola Laseinde, stressed the urgency of embracing innovation.

“Africa’s digital transformation journey is fueled by collaborations, and this platform celebrates the leaders driving this vision forward. We must continue to build on these foundations to accelerate the continent’s development,” she said.

The launch of the CIO & C-Suite Awards 2024 marks another milestone for CIO Africa Club in its mission to support visionary leadership. The awards celebrate Africa’s finest, with categories recognising technological excellence, visionary strategy, and impactful leadership.
