Elin Air has been officially certified by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) as an Approved Maintenance Organisation (AMO), authorising the company to carry out aircraft maintenance services in compliance with national aviation standards.
The certification follows Elin Air’s completion of a 7,800 landings maintenance check, a high-level inspection comparable to a D-check, on a Bombardier Challenger 604 and an Agusta A109E helicopter.
According to the company, this type of inspection, similar to a D-check in commercial aviation, is conducted entirely in Nigeria for the first time.
Elin Air noted that the certification would enable it to expand its scope of operations within Nigeria’s aviation sector. The airline also stated that the approval aligned with efforts to strengthen local capacity in aircraft maintenance.
The Executive Director of Elin Group, Dr Benedict Adeyileka, described the certification as a significant development for both the company and the industry and that the NCAA’s approval reflected the organisation’s compliance with applicable regulatory standards.
Adeyileka stated: “The issuance of the AMO Certificates and OPSPEC by the NCAA is a landmark for both Elin Group and Nigeria’s aviation industry. This approval empowers us to maintain our fleet and extend services to other operators, thereby supporting the sector’s growth.
“It affirms the standards we have upheld over the years and places on us the responsibility to expand services that strengthen the aviation ecosystem. We thank the NCAA for its confidence in our capabilities. This recognition inspires us to keep striving for excellence and innovation in building a stronger, safer, and more sustainable aviation industry.”
