Masked men kill 40-year-old notorious cultist in Owo
A 40-year-old notorious cultist identified as Nasir Isiaka was killed by unknown gunmen in Owo, headquarters of the Owo Local Government Area of Ondo State, on Sunday.
Isiaka was killed a few days after five people were killed in the ancient community during a cult-related clash, after which a curfew was imposed on the town.
According to the police command in the state, Isiaka, who was killed by two masked men in the Gbanasa axis of the community, had been on the wanted list of the police over his alleged involvement in violent crimes in the state.
While confirming the killing of the suspect, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), CSP Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, stated that the deceased had, during the End SARS protest, along with his group, attacked Uso Police Division in the local government and stole one AK-47 rifle and bulletproof vest belonging to the police.
The PPRO further disclosed that Isiaka was also involved in the murder of one Adedeji Rafiu, also known as “PA,” in the area.
She said, “The command can confirm the murder of one Nasir Isiaka, aged 40 years, a notorious cultist who has been on the police wanted list.
“The police at A Division Owo today (Sunday) received a distress call that someone had been shot at LA, Gbanasa area of Owo by two masked men.
“On getting to the scene, the police discovered that the deceased was a cultist who participated in the End SARS protest, attacked the Uso division, and stole an AK-47 and bulletproof vest belonging to the police. He also participated in the killing of one Adedeji Rafiu, aka PA.
“His remains have been deposited in the mortuary by the police; efforts are underway to apprehend the men behind the mask.”
