Experts link financial freedom to technology revolution

Experts have emphasised the need to immerse the youths in technological knowledge for national development and relevance, saying this would lead to financial freedom for economic entities.

They maintained that with the youth accounting for over 70 per cent of the nation’s population, it was important they are assisted to discover knowledge that advances their understanding of technology.

This was disclosed at the launch of Zig Zag nation, an online community that provides the platform where the youths can display their talents and create an inter-personal relationship founded by Obafemi Giwa-Amu.

Giwa-Amu said that ZigZag nation is highly interactive cyberspace with a focus on the young demographic, noting that it would form the bane of commercial-oriented people engaging online while serving as agents to the commercial endeavour.

He said eligible persons for full-membership would be equipped with a starter pack consisting of a debit card to aid operations of an e-wallet, a call free SIM card and a Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST) locker for warehousing of purchased items.
He noted that the digital age is one that fuels innovation and that despite the infrastructure deficit, the potential for disruption, active engagement and lasting change is huge.

Giwa-Amu added that it was necessary to equip the youths with a platform with which positive energy could be channelled to higher productivity and leverage communication as a means of engaging in capital enhancing activities.

“Under ZigZag, the youths have access to a robust e-commerce platform where shopping or international trade is made easy from the comfort of homes and workplaces and schools. The zigzag community is a highly interactive platform and a network of people that would culminate into a nation.

“Active members benefit from a reward system of a scaling order. The reason we advanced for partnerships with key companies, and we are working closely with some government agencies for proper identity management. The ultimate satisfaction is that the zigzag nation is building a solution-driven community, one that pioneers revolutionary reforms in key sectors of the economy.”

Executive Director, Risk Management and Finance, Bank of Agriculture, who is also a member of the Board of Trustees, ZigZag, Prince Niyi Akenzua, stated that the platform would enhance financial inclusion among the youths.

“ZigZag is in partnership with NIPOST to revolutionise the digital system. This is what is happening in the rest of the world and Nigeria cannot afford to be behind. The partnership with the post office is very unique because they have about a thousand branches all over the world.”
