A comprehensive logistics and transportation solutions provider, Aramex has affirmed the nation’s resilience for growth despite recession, even as it unveils plans to explore and deepen innovative solutions for the logistics and transportation industries.

Indeed, firm expressed readiness to provide employment opportunities for Nigerian youth through its new technology of promoting e-commerce services worldwide.

Speaking in Lagos during its re-launch in Nigeria, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Aramex International, Hussein Hachem described the Nigerian economy as a youth driven one with high internet access and lot of smart phone users that would guarantee innovative solutions to transform the logistics and transportation industry.

He said Aramex would capitalise on the growth of e–commerce, which is the distribution chain, hence the heavy investment on infrastructure and the setting up of distribution centres.

“There is a vast infrastructure for people who want to deliver packages”, he added.Hachem, who disclosed the launch of the Aramex application, noted that with its unique features, anyone can download the Aramex application on their smart phones to start up from there.

“We are committed to offering solutions to help shape the logistics and transportation industry using technologies that will connect Nigeria with the rest of the world, ensuring safety of goods and prompt delivery,” he added.

The Managing Director, Aramex Nigeria, Faisal Jarmakani noted that there is a big gap between big courier companies and the unknowns and Aramex seeks to be the service provider to bridge that gap through its new technology.

The technology is an online system which is connected through sophisticated machinery with the application fully integrated.Hachem advanced that directions on the technology would be given to new entrepreneurs and new start-ups to boost e-commerce in the industry, hence the idea of youth and community participation.

Jarmakani, who identified shortage of capacity as the major challenge in the industry, emphasized that the supply chain is evolving so the traditional model no longer fits in the digital economy and that is why the youth and community is going to be actively involved through those new start ups.“We are local as we can be and we have the mission to change the negative vibes in the industry,” he added.

Despite the country’s economic recession, Hachem stated that “our industry believe in the Nigerian economy that has possibilities to grow to about six trillion dollars in 2050.

The Aramex CEO also said Nigeria has the right population with the appropriate component for expansion, “we see immense growth and job creation, as well as opportunities to change the tone of happenings in the market through building partnerships and connecting people.”

Jarmakani revealed that talks are underway with the Nigerian Postal Services (NIPOST) to seek their support in advancing the technology to create hubs in key prime trade areas that would allow general participation of stakeholders in the industry.“I believe the tough times have passed and the next coming months would record a huge turn over in the markets,” jarmakani noted.
