THE Certified Institute of Auctioneers, Nigeria (CIA Nigeria) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Auctioneers Association – (NAA – USA) for training and business development of auctioneers in Nigeria as well as other African countries.
NAA – USA is the largest professional auctioneers body in the world superintending the certified auctioneers institute in Indian university, the award of masters degree equivalent in auctioneering and also projecting the image of auctioneers across US, Canada, South Africa and rest of the world.
The signing ceremony, which took place in Dallas, Texas, was graced by the National President of NAA US, Tom Saturley, Chris Pracht (Treasurer) Hannes Combest (NAA-CEO) among others.
Speaking at the event, Saturley said Nigeria auctioneers could take advantage of the MoU to train and specialise in any aspect of auctioneering with certification as a specialist in property, Art and Benefit auctions among others.
He explained that the MoU gives direct membership of NAA-US to CIA – Nigeria auctioneers.
Confirming the development, CIA Nigeria’s Registrar/Chief Executive Officer, Adeleke Hassan said some Nigeria auctioneers from the Institute have already taken advantage of the NAA-US membership, training and certification.
Commenting on the MoU, a legal practitioner who is also a fellow of the Certified Institute of Auctioneers, Nigeria Femi Ogundare, described it as a welcome development.
