The Area Controller of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Seme Area Command, Wale Adenuga, has charged newly promoted officers to ensure that the nation’s border remains the pride of the Service and the best in the West African sub-region.
Speaking during the official decoration ceremony of 66 promoted senior officers, held at the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Complex, Joint Border Post (JBP), Seme-Krake, Adenuga reminded the officers that promotions come with both honour and responsibility.
“This promotion comes with humility. It is not a licence for pride but a call to greater service. Carry your junior colleagues along, celebrate with one another, and let us make Seme Area Command the pride of the Service,” he charged.
Adenuga reiterated the Command’s commitment to trade facilitation and continuous stakeholder engagement, stressing that the Seme border would remain a benchmark for excellence in the West African sub-region.
The Customs Area Controller commended the Comptroller-General of Customs (CGC), Bashir Adeniyi, and his management team for their tireless efforts in ensuring a fair and transparent promotion exercise.
Speaking on behalf of the decorated officers, Chief Superintendent of Customs, Oreyeni Olufemi, expressed gratitude to the CGC and the Area Controller, pledging that the officers would justify the confidence reposed in them and remain dedicated to the success of the service.
The ceremony was attended by heads of sister security agencies, including the Nigeria Immigration Service, Department of State Services (DSS), National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), Port Health Service, Nigeria Agricultural Quarantine Service (NAQS), Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD)/Anti-Bomb Unit as well as key stakeholders.
