Arising from past experiences where Nigeria exports are rejected, the newly appointed Executive Director/Chief Executive Officer(CEO) of the Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC), Dr. Ezra Yakusak, yesterday, disclosed that his leadership will do all it takes to improve the country’s export profile

Yakusak disclosed this while addressing journalists on his first day in office as the new CEO of the council in Abuja.

He took over the helm of affairs of the council following the completion of the two-term tenure of Awolowo.

Recalling that Nigeria’s exportable goods could have been rejected for several reasons, Yakusak assured that the Council will work as a team to ensure better certification and packaging are given to the country’s exports.

He said: “We cannot keep struggling at the Council and keep having our goods rejected. We will look at the issues limiting export and work on it”.

He also assured that he will continue from where his predecessor, Segun Awolowo stopped, saying: ”Why change a football team if it is winning? We will work on all the projects he left behind as a team and ensure that non-oil export occupies a better space in the Nigerian economy.”

He explained that delays in export of products is one of the factors hindering the growth of the economy, stressing that the Domestic Warehouse Operations would equally be strengthened for optimal delivery.

The Executive Director therefore, solicited support of staff and other stakeholders to enable him to succeed in his developmental programmes for the Council and the nation in general, adding that staff welfare will be addressed.
