Former chairman of defunct Intercontinental Bank, Dr. Raymond Obieri has sued Trustbond Mortgage bank for N525.5 million for alleged harassment.

In the suit filed at the Federal High Court, Lagos, on his behalf by Dr Oladapo Olanipekun SAN, the boardroom guru is seeking a declaration that the action of the defendant and/or its officers including but not limited to the claims and assertions in its letter dated
November 7, 2017, are unlawful and contrary to the clear provisions of the Companies and Allied Matters Act (CAMA).

He is also seeking a declaration that the actions of the defendant and /or its officers, agents , privies or otherwise  including and not limited to the claims and assertions in its  November 7, 2017 letter , amount to harassment , threat, intimidation, blackmail and extortion.
 
Furthermore,  Obieri is seeking a declaration that the defendant’s acts of harassment , threat, intimidation and blackmail
whether by itself or by its  and/or its officers have caused embarrassment , emotional distress, mental torture and health challenges to him.
 
Among other reliefs, the former bank chief wants is the court declaration that that the defendant is not entitled to enforce any debt, whether partially, wholly, or otherwise, against Summit Capital and Asset Management Limited, which company has already been dissolved and as such ceases to exist.
 
He also wants an order restraining the defendant whether  by itself or by its agents or otherwise from making any petition to any law enforcement agency against the plaintiff in respect of matters arising from the statement of assets and liabilities on the statement of affairs of Summit Capital Asset Management Ltd.
 
Similarly, he wants an order awarding him the sum of N500million as general damages, N10 million as special damages, N15 million as exemplary damages  and N10.5 million for the costs of instituting the suit.
