Participants in the just-concluded Skye Bank’s mentorship Programme for women have commended the bank for its commitment in supporting the entrepreneurship aspirations of women in various sectors of the Nigerian economy.

A teacher, Ms. Bada Omolola, who participated as a mentee in the recently concluded free session held under the aegis of the bank’s Skye Pearl Initiative, described the exercise as a life changing experience.

Another beneficiary Ms. Omolola, who is a baker, noted the helpful tips she got from her mentor, saying: “My mentor was receptive, intelligent, humorous and always ready to listen,” and thanked the Bank for the initiative.

Equally sharing her experience, one of the mentors, Ms. Doherty Olatokunbo, expressed excitement over the initiative especially coming from a Bank in this period of economic recession.

Acknowledging the success recorded from the first phase of the programmer, Skye Bank’s Group Head, Retail Banking, Ndubuisi Osakwe, said: “It is an avenue to empower women and women-owned SMEs across the country through the influence of experienced professionals in various sectors. They include Banking, Fashion, Event Management, Interior Designs, Life Coaching, Education, Public Relations and Health to mention a few. Such Mentors share their wealth of knowledge, and handhold the mentees through hurdles on career and business challenges.”

Meanwhile, Skye Bank’s customers have expressed delight at the experience they enjoyed for being among the bank’s priority accounts named Skye Select Account.

A Lagos-based businessman, Okechukwu Okafor, who operates a Skye Select Account, sharing his experience, explained: “We were full of excitement because for starters, the card gave us access to the lovely lounge at Murtala Mohammed International Airport, where we were given priority treatment. I also had the opportunity to watch the live football match of my soccer team in comfort.”

Another customer who simply identified herself as Christine, also explained, “At Amsterdam, we had an eight-hour stopover before our next trip and the card gained us access to two of their executive lounges where we relaxed.”

According to her, “Imagine just waiting at the general waiting area/airport gate for eight hours with thousands of other travellers, the wait would have made our stop at Amsterdam uninteresting.”

Speaking, Osakwe noted that Skye Select Account is an individual Current Account designed for the discerning priority client to deliver fast and convenient value-added services, which include a wide range of loans products in an exclusive package that matches one’s lifestyle.

The account requires an opening and operating balance of N200,000 along with other product features.
