Panel submits report on media bill

A PANEL set up by the House of Representatives Committee on Information and National Orientation to review laws of the Nigeria Press Council (NPC), yesterday submitted its report at the National Assembly with its chairman, Prince Tony Momoh, insisting that the National Assembly lacked the powers to fix the salaries of journalists.

The panel made up of stakeholders from seven media and media-related organisations, was mandated by the House Committee to draw up suggestions necessary for repealing the NPC Act of 1992.
