ONE of the unresolved mysteries of life is the “POWER OF THE PENDULUM”. The Pendulum Clock is a mechanism whereby through its swinging action, human time is calibrated and measured. The Pendulum clock is a common feature of the Architectural Landscape of the major cities in the U.K. It is interesting to note that for human time to be measured and ascertained, Pendulum must always swing and oscillate. Pendulum is never static; it is always swinging. Even in our modern day digitisation and computerisation, digital time measurement is never static; it is always reading different figures. It is amazing to note the digital clock that reads Eleven or Twelve will soon read One.

IN God’s governmental dealings with people, the severity of punishment shows the gravity of the sin committed by man. The sin of a false prophet, who deceives multitudes into believing a soul-damning lie, who strengthens men in rebellion against God, who turns people away from the way of salvation into the way of eternal perdition, who changes, adulterates and distorts the Word of God, the sacred constitution of God’s Kingdom, who sins against the clear light of God’s revelation, who by flagrantly sinning encourages others to sin against God, who professes to serve God, being supported by the resources of God’s people, yet serves God’s arch-enemy, Satan and who refuses the pleadings of the Holy Spirit to repent and return to the truth, that preacher’s crime is greater than what our tongue can express. What would you think of doctors who, instead of helping people to live, are injecting them with disease-transmitting viruses? What would our society, any society, think of lawyers, who collect much money from their clients and yet consistently and deliberately make them victims of cruel injustice? What would our government, any government, think of the teachers who, instead of teaching youths to live properly, deliberately teach them the way of evil and death? What God knows about false prophets, which most of us are ignorant of would make shocking and frightening discoveries, when they are eventually disclosed on the judgment day.

THE problems of man from ages have been as a result of his disobedient to his Creator. The problem of war, global economics recession, insurgency and epidemic are all the effects of man’s disobedient to His Maker. Whenever man deviates from the godly ordained pathway of life, God always will take away his peace. This has been the practice from the time man was placed in the Garden of Eden till date. It does not matter how close man or nation is to God, but if he sins God will trade away his peace. It took the Children of Israel, God’s own people four hundred years to be able to complete a journey of forty years, because of sin. It was when they submitted their allegiance to God Almighty that they were allowed to enter into the Promised Land. The principle of cause and effect to make man be submissive to Him was designed by God so that the absolute peace He destined for man will be restored.

But we have core values that cannot be compromised. These include the fact that salvation comes only through Jesus Christ, the sanctity of marriage, which should only be between a man and a woman. We believe also that there is only one true God, eternally existing in three persons: the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit. We believe in PFN that all men born into this world are sinners and have fallen short of God’s glory, hence the necessity for repentance and faith in the finished work of Christ. We believe in the eternal future. Our focus is on the essentials.

After all, God has assured us that: My word that goes out from my mouth will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it. (Is. 55:11). However, we must know that God is not a magician, who must pander to and please his customer by fulfilling his/her will so he/she will come back. Answered prayers must always align with the will of God.
