A cleric, Sam Olu Alo, has called on Nigerians to join hands with the government in developing education in the country. Alo, who spoke while donating some blocks of classrooms and library to Temidire Community High School, Ekiti, and St. Benedict’s Catholic Nursery and Primary School, Ido Ekiti, said the gesture was borne out of the resolve to impact lives, as well as his covenant with God to be a source of blessing to his people.
He said: “In all the developed countries I have been to, 70 per cent of their schools, up to university level, are owned by churches before being taken over by the government. Facilities in these schools make teaching and learning attractive, this informed my decision to contribute my little quota by building classrooms.
Alo, while commending the state government for its free education scheme, which he said, would increase school enrolment, also appealed to old students to support their alma mater
The Chairmen of Ijero and Ido-Osi local government areas, as well as stakeholders appreciated the cleric for the gesture, while the youths of Temidire Ekiti presented an award of recognition to Alo.
A similar award of excellence was presented to him by the staff, parents and pupils of Benedict’s Nursery and Primary School, Ido Ekiti, for his contribution to the development of education in the state.
