The University of Medical Sciences (UNIMED), Ondo State, has hailed its female workforce on the commemoration of the 2026 International Women’s Day, emphasising that their role in advancing both the institution and the healthcare sector cannot be overemphasised.
The vice-chancellor of the institution, Prof. Ebunoluwa Adejuyigbe, harped on the dedication and professionalism demonstrated by women across various departments of the institution, emphasising their influence as educators, researchers, and administrators.
In a statement issued by the Public Relations Officer of the institution, Issac Oluyi, Adejuyigbe, who is the first female vice-chancellor of the university, stressed the importance of the female staff in the daily operations and long-term vision of the institution.
According to the university leadership, the contributions of its female employees extend beyond administrative duties to include clinical practice and groundbreaking research.
She said, “Today, we recognise and appreciate your impact within our university community and beyond. May you continue to break barriers, lead with confidence, and achieve even greater milestones.”
Meanwhile, the institution has entered into a partnership with the Canadian Education Council (CEC) to establish an International Career Centre (ICC) in order to enhance graduate employability.
“Students can access mentorship programmes, skill-building workshops, career coaching, and local & international internships. The centre also prepares participants for the CEC International Employment Licence, a globally recognised credential for professional readiness.
“The initiative includes staff development, equipping UNIMED career personnel with modern tools, strategies, and global best practices. CEC provides technical expertise, digital infrastructure, and benchmarking, while UNIMED ensures operational support and student engagement.
“This partnership strengthens UNIMED’s institutional standing, enhances graduate employability, and modernises career support for local and global competitiveness.”
