Ronik Schools move to expand scholarship initiatives

In a bid to reward excellence and support students across a range of disciplines, the management of Ronik Schools is set to expand its scholarship programme, targeting high-performing students in academics, sports, languages, and leadership.

Lead Consultant and Vice Chairman of Ronik group of schools, Dr Adebola Olubanjo, who disclosed this to journalists in Lagos, said the initiative is part of the school’s broader strategy to encourage and open more opportunities for talented students.

“We believe no student should be held back due to financial constraints. Our scholarship programme is designed to support outstanding individuals in the sciences, sports, and the arts.”

The school recently awarded a scholarship to Emmanuel Akolo, a student who won a silver medal in the 100m and 200m events at the MTN Champs Season three.

According to Olubanjo, further support will be given to students who excel both locally and internationally, to nurture future leaders and professionals.

He said: “Academic performance remains a major focus. Six students from the school recently passed the national stage of the Africa Biology Olympiad and will also benefit from scholarship opportunities and mentorship programmes.”

Beyond academics and sports, Olubanjo emphasised the school’s interest in multilingual education, offering intensive training in French and Chinese to prepare students for global opportunities.

He added that scholarships are being considered for students who distinguished themselves in language acquisition.

“French-speaking countries surround Nigeria, yet, many of our students speak only English. We are committed to preparing students who can compete internationally.”

The school’s efforts to promote student welfare also include significant upgrades to its boarding facilities.

The Group Administrative Secretary, Omon Ayorinde, highlighted changes such as improved hostel infrastructure, enhanced meal plans, and strengthened mentorship systems.

“We conducted surveys to understand the needs of our students and introduced monthly visiting weekends for parents and children to connect meaningfully,” she said.

Ayorinde further added that security measures have also been strengthened through partnerships with law enforcement and emergency services to ensure a safe learning environment.

As part of its development strategy, she stated that the school has continuously conducted routine audits, external staff evaluations, and professional development training to maintain standards.

With the expansion of its scholarship programme and continued focus on holistic development, Ayorinde said the school aims to foster a culture where excellence is recognised and nurtured across all fields of endeavour.
