The Nigerian Breweries–FelixOhiwerei Education Trust Fund (NB/FOETF) has awarded a full secondary school scholarship to Ayomide Avose, a scholar under the Slum2School Africa initiative, who gained national recognition as the keynote speaker at the 2025 Maltina Teacher of the Year grand finale.
Avose captured the attention of dignitaries, educators, and guests at the event with his keynote address.
His delivery was marked by remarkable confidence, eloquence, and intellectual depth,highlighting his exceptional potential despite coming from an underserved background.
His speech drew widespread commendation at the finale and brought him into the spotlight as one of the country’s promising young voices.
To support his continued academic growth and development, the NB/FOETF offered him a scholarship that will cover tuition and other essential educational needs throughout his secondary education.
The funding will be administered through Slum2School Africa, which will also provide academic monitoring, psycho-social support, and the implementation framework required to ensure the successful delivery of the intervention.
Speaking on the initiative, the Public Relations Officer of the NB/FOETF, UzoOdenigbo, said the scholarship reflects the organisation’scommitment to expanding access to quality education and creating opportunities for talented young Nigerians from underserved communities.
He noted that interventions of this nature do more than transform individual lives, as they also contribute to broader societal progress by empowering future leaders who can drive sustainable development nationwide.
Also speaking, the Chief of Staff and Senior Partnership Manager at Slum2School Africa, Hauwa Yahaya,reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to ensuring the effective implementation of the scholarship, and to providing the necessary academic support systems and monitoring frameworks that will enable the teenager to succeed.
“This investment not only affirms your dedication to educational development, but also strengthens the collective impact we can achieve for children from underserved communities,” Yahaya said.
