Dangote refinery has denied claims that it has been having problems leading to its reselling of crude oil.
Global news media, Reuters, in a report on Friday, July 26, 2024, claimed that “Dangote oil refinery is reselling cargoes of U.S. and Nigerian crude, four trade sources familiar with the matter said.”
Reuters also reported that three of the sources said the reoffer was linked to technical problems at the refinery.

According to the global news media, a Dangote executive, when asked about the offers and talk in the market that the refinery is having operational issues affecting the crude distillation unit, said the CDU is in operation.
The Group Chief, Branding and Communication Officer of Dangote refinery, Anthony Chiejina, in a statement on Saturday, corroborated the earlier claim of the company’s executive, denying that the CDU is experiencing issues.
“Our attention has been drawn to a misleading report suggesting that our refinery’s crude distillation unit (CDU) is experiencing issues and that we are reselling crude oil,” Chiejina said.
“We categorically deny these claims. The Dangote refinery is not authorised to sell crude oil purchased from Nigeria, and our CDU is fully operational and functioning optimally.
“We advise the public to disregard these false narratives, which are likely driven by interests opposed to the local refining of fuels.”
