The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil), Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, has extended his warm congratulations to Ahmadu Musa Kida on his appointment as Board Chairman of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC), as well as to Bashir Bayo Ojulari, the new Group Chief Executive Officer, and the other members of the freshly constituted NNPC board.
In his remarks, the Minister lauded President Bola Tinubu for his visionary leadership in effecting these strategic appointments under the provisions of the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA). He emphasised that such appointments would serve to fortify the legal framework governing the oil and gas sector, thereby ensuring enhanced efficiency, accountability, and competitiveness on both a domestic and international level.
“This is a crucial step toward further repositioning the NNPC to meet the demands of the evolving global energy landscape,” Lokpobiri stated. “With the wealth of experience and expertise that Ahmadu Musa Kida, Bashir Bayo Ojulari, and the board members bring, I am confident that NNPC will further drive significant progress in achieving our national energy objectives.”
Reaffirming the Ministry of Petroleum Resources’ commitment to a collaborative approach, the Minister pledged to work closely with the new NNPC leadership in the realisation of its mandate. He also called on industry stakeholders, investors, and partners to support the new management team as they endeavour to enhance production capacity, optimise value throughout the petroleum value chain, and secure a sustainable future for the sector.
While expressing gratitude to Mele Kyari for his meritorious service to the nation, Lokpobiri underscored that under President Tinubu’s administration, Nigeria remains steadfast in fostering an environment conducive to growth, investment, and transformative change within the oil and gas industry.
