President Bola Tinubu on Friday departed Abuja for a two-nation visit to Japan and Brazil, with a brief stopover in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, as part of efforts to expand Nigeria’s economic and diplomatic partnerships.
According to his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the visit will begin with Tinubu’s participation in the Ninth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD9), holding in Yokohama, Japan, from August 20 to 22.
The conference, themed “Co-create Innovative Solutions with Africa,” will focus on Africa’s economic transformation, investment-driven growth, and sustainable development through private sector innovation.
While in Japan, Tinubu will join other African leaders in discussions with Japanese government officials, investors, and development agencies to foster stronger trade and technology collaborations.
From Japan, the President will proceed to Brasilia, Brazil, for a two-day state visit from August 24 to 25 at the invitation of President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva.
Onanuga stated that Tinubu will hold bilateral talks with his host, attend a Nigeria-Brazil business forum, and witness the signing of agreements and Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) covering trade, agriculture, energy, and education.
The Nigerian delegation includes key ministers and senior officials who will work with counterparts in both countries to explore investment opportunities and formalise new cooperation frameworks.
