20,000 out-of-school children for enrolment in FCT

The National Commission for Almajiri and Out-of-School Children’s Education (NCAOOSCE) has announced that it has successfully mopped up over 20,000 out-of-school children in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, within the last three weeks.

According to the Executive Secretary of the Commission, Dr. Muhammad Idris, this achievement was made possible by the dedicated efforts of the enrollment marshals, who worked tirelessly to identify the out-of-school children.

A statement by the Special Assistant to the Executive Secretary (Media & Communications/Spokesperson of the Commission), Nura Muhammad, explained that the children will be enrolled in the nation’s capital when schools resume in September.

“The strategy of visiting the nooks and crannies of the FCT to identify these children has proven effective, and we believe this model can be replicated across the country and even serve as a benchmark for other nations facing similar challenges.

“With the application of this model and adequate resources, the Commission aims to enrol millions of children in school yearly. Initially targeting 10,000 children, the Commission’s determination and hard work have yielded a remarkable outcome, exceeding expectations,” Dr. Idris said.

The statement noted that the Executive Secretary reaffirmed the President Bola Tinubu Administration’s commitment to reforming the Almajiri system of education and ensuring that every Nigerian child has access to quality education.
