A test drive in Rolls-Royce Cullinan SUV
Coscharis Motors Plc, the exclusive franchisee of the luxury brand, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, recently, thrilled the media to a ‘feel’ of the Rolls-Royce Cullinan, the first ever Sports Utility Vehicle to be produced from Goodwood in the United Kingdom – the house of Rolls-Royce.
With a test-drive in the ambience of the luxury apartments by Azuri Towers at the Eko Development City beside the Atlantic Ocean in Lagos, the Cullinan stole the show with its audacious, luxuriously practical and overload of affluence.
The SUV is also a capable off-roader and continues to offer the ‘magic carpet’ ride quality that Rolls-Royce cars are known for.
Its dizzying array of optional tech includes night vision and a distinct laser-light system, but Rolls-Royce also offers more mundane driver-assistance features such as forward collision and lane-departure warning as standard.
Driving it hard does not result in the sort of near-death experience one would expect; while it’s patently clear the Rolls-Royce Cullinan isn’t really built for such pursuits, it will at least tolerate it, which is a bit of a pity, since its engine is a torque monster, thumping out 850Nm from just 1,600rpm.
The Cullinan has a self-leveling, adaptive air suspension with uprated components to handle the rigours of potential off-road use along with active anti-roll bars and rear-wheel-steering, the Rolls-Royce Cullinan is surprisingly light when it is driving. This is no mean feat, considering it weighs, which is over 2.6-tonnes.
What is indisputable, however, is the Rolls-Royce Cullinan’s presence. 5.3m long, 2m wide and 1.8m high, the Rolls-Royce Cullinan does not have much presence as it looms in a blotting-out-the-sun sort of way.
While welcoming the team before setting out for the drive, General Manager, Marketing and Corporate Communications, Coscharis Group, Abiona Babarinde, gave the background behind the choice of location for the activation, stating that the choice of the location is to showcase the smooth drive a Rolls-Royce Cullinan will deliver effortlessly on all the different road terrains.
“Right here, you will enjoy the drive on a smooth road and sandy areas on the beach side that gives you both the on and off road capabilities of the Cullinan within an environment like what we have at this Eko Development City here in Lagos,”Babarinde said.
To deliver the ‘Ride and Drive’ concept, which was anchored by the Business Manager, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, Lagos, Tolu Gbadamosi, the company showcased the unique selling propositions of Cullinan by guiding each of the selected media representatives on different routes/terrains; after the media team equally mounted the vehicle to have the ‘feel’ to deliver the total experience.
The Rolls-Royce team delivered a total presentation of the Cullinan as the ‘luxury of SUVs’ when the Ownership Services Manager of the brand, Michael Onyewuchi, gave a rundown of all the aftersales offerings that are available to give the customer the ‘peace of mind’ owning the Cullinan.
Aside from the warranty that is guaranteed from the purchase from Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Lagos, luxury enthusiasts are guaranteed genuine parts to be fixed with the right tools by certified Rolls-Royce.
