LAGOS State Governor-elect, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, has inaugurated a transition committee to ensure a seamless transfer of power to his government.

The committee is headed by the Deputy Governor-elect, Dr. (Mrs) Idiat Oluranti Adebule. Other members of the team are Prof. Ademola Abass, Mr. Babatunde Rotinwa, Mr. Fola Olalekan Lasisi, Mrs. Rafiquat Onabamiro, Mr. Tunde Durosimi Etti, Dr. Femi Onanuga, Engineer Ade Akinsanya, Mr. Akeem Sulaimon and Mr. Dele Onabokun.

In a statement by his media aide, Idowu Ajanaku, the transition committee is expected to begin work immediately and will submit its report within four weeks. The Governor-elect thanked the committee for their willingness to take up the challenge to work with him to build a Lagos of his dream.

In her response, the Deputy-Governor elect, who also doubles as the chairman of the team, thanked the Governor-elect for giving them the opportunity to serve. She promised that the team would work assiduously to make the job a success within the time frame.

Meanwhile, the coalition of 10 governorship candidates that dropped their individual aspirations to support Ambode for the Lagos State governorship election, has advised him to run an all-inclusive government and see himself as a father to all. They also urged him, irrespective of whatever has transpired before and during the elections, to know that leadership responsibility is a product of God’s anointing.

In a congratulatory statement signed by the coordinator of the group, Akinola Obadia, a copy of which was made available to The Guardian, they expressed gratitude to God for Ambode’s victory, promising to stand by him to work together in the execution of his lofty programmes.

“We pray that our Governor-elect will have the strength to continue with the ongoing good work of Babatunde Fashola, as we promised to stand by him to work together in the execution of his lofty programmes as enumerated in his party’s manifesto,” the statement read.

Quoting Amilcar Cabral, who said, “the welfare of the people is the supreme law”, they appealed to the governor-elect to see his victory as an opportunity and a call to serve humanity and be concerned about the welfare of the people. We look forward to a new Lagos under his leadership,” they stated.
