GOVERNOR, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode and the Lagos State Chapter of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) have congratulated the duo of the President of the Guild of Editors, Mr. Femi Adesina and the Director of the Media and Publicity of All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council, Mallam Garba Shehu on their appointments as Special Adviser on Media and Publicity and Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity respectively.

In a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Habib Aruna, Governor Ambode described the appointment of Adesina, who is also Managing Director of the Sun Publishing limited as well deserved.

He said as President of the Nigerian Guild of Editors, Adesina upped the ante in terms of performance, integrity and credibility rating of Nigerian media, expressing the belief that he would bring his wealth of experience to bear on the management of the media image of the President at this critical juncture of the nation’s history.

In the same vein, the Governor said that the naming of Shehu, who headed the Media and Publicity team of the APC Presidential Campaign Organisation and also ran an issue based unrivaled media campaign, demonstrates the intellectual depth of APC and its leaders.

He therefore wished the new appointees successful tenure in office and prayed that they would use their good offices to stimulate issue-based discourse that would set the agenda in the Nigerian polity.

The NUJ, Lagos State Council, lauded the appointment of former Managing Director/Editor-in-Chief, The Sun Newspapers, Mr. Femi Adesina and former Lagos State Commissioner for Environment, Mr. Tunji Bello on their recent appointments as Special Adviser (Media and Publicity) to President Muhammadu Buhari and Secretary to Lagos State Government respectively.

In a statement issued and signed in Ikeja by its Chairman, Comrade Deji Elumoye and Secretary, Mrs. Bimbo Oyetunde, Lagos NUJ described their appointments as well deserved.

The statement also hailed the re-appointment of former Chairman of Lagos NUJ, Alhaji Wahab Oba as Chief Press Secretary to Governor Abdul Fatah Ahmed of Kwara State, as well as the appointment of former Editor of Sunday Independent, Mr. Habib Haruna as Chief Press Secretary to Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode.

The Council, therefore, urged the new appointees, who are seasoned senior journalists of Lagos State Council, to bring their vast experience to bear on their new jobs and be good ambassadors of the journalism profession.
