Babcock varsity helmsman eulogises Mama Awolowo

According to Makinde, “Mrs. H.I.D Awolowo has been to Babcock University, a loving mother, and a very good friend. She was a role model and an inspiration to both students and staff of the university.

“Of recent, she was driven round the campus to see what the Lord has done for the university in terms of infrastructural growth of the university and the high academic standard.

Makinde continued, Mama Awolowo was so impressed that she said: “I am seeing what my late husband (Baba Awolowo) did not see despite the fact that he laid the foundation of the school in 1958. I will report to Baba the progress that the Seventh Day Adventist Church has made in the educational development of Nigeria if I could see him after my exit from this world.”

The vice chancellor who informed that the Babcock Teaching Hospital had, in the past couple of years, provided healthcare services to Mama Awolowo until her demise, prayed God to uphold the family left behind by the departed Nigerian icon.
