AS President Muhammadu Buhari’s war on corruption thickens, a cleric, Primate Elijah Ayodele of INRI Evangelistic Church, has cautioned that former President Goodluck Jonathan needs to be handled with care so that it does not boomerang.

The cleric stated this in view of the tremendous goodwill he enjoys for honourably stepping down during the last election and putting Nigeria on a truly democratic path that the world admires. Ayodele spoke on sundry socio-political and economic issues in his office in Isolo, Lagos.

Although many of the former president’s aides are mired in corruption allegations, Ayodele cautioned against politicization of the corruption war. While noting that although Buhari would expend a lot of effort on the corruption war, little would come out of it, as he might shoot his administration in the foot in the process.

According to Ayodele, “Buhari’s government will make a lot of efforts in terms of fight against corruption, he may not make much progress. In fact, he might shoot himself in the foot. Buhari has to be careful with Jonathan; it may turn around and boomerang. His corruption fight won’t go too far. In fact, Buhari won’t be able to fight corruption as expected. In fact, corruption will weaken Buhari’s government; it’s not going to be easy for the president. It will cause inflation, prices of goods will go up, cost of living will rise and retrenchment will be rampant in all sectors. Life will be hard for Nigerians”.

The clergyman also said Buhari’s corruption fight would becloud him from attending to the economy to effect the ‘change campaign’ on which back he rode to power. He also said the president does not have the necessary team to jump-start the economy from the doldrums, as economic missteps would characterise his administration and frustrate his every step to make the needed impact.

As he noted, “The economy needs God’s intervention. Buhari does not have the people to run the government and the economy well. Buhari means well, but he must be careful not to play politics with religion and ethnic sentiments. The economy will not do well under Buhari; it will fluctuate. He must make life easy for Nigerians and so continue to retain their trust.

“The country needs a lot of prayers so we don’t experience too many strikes. Some states will collapse economically. In fact, the deterioration of the economy will confuse Buhari. Youth unemployment will skyrocket. There will not be much improvement in energy and power sector until 2017 when we begin to get stability. The Discos (Distribution Companies) and National Energy Regulation Commission (NERC) will have crisis that will make for instability in the sector”.

Also, Ayodele tasked Buhari to thread carefully with amnesty for youth in the Niger Delta and Biafra, saying how he handled them would make a huge difference for his administration. He said Buhari needed to handle amnesty well so riots and militancy do not rear their ugly heads again, as Nigeria may not be able to cope with war on many fronts. He advised him to dialogue with Biafra agitators before the agitation escalates and gets out of hand.

Ayodele also noted that Buhari’s deadline for Boko Haram was unrealistic, saying the sect would find another way to fight back and continue to cause harm to innocent Nigerians. He stated that the international dimension of ISIS must be taken seriously with steps taken to cut off the link to further weaken the sect.

On the suspended Bayelsa State governorship election, Ayodele charged Governor Seriake Dickson to work closely with the grassroots if he is to be victorious, adding that the election might end in a slim victory for him.

False prophet. Jonathan made virtue of political necessity. He had no choice but to concede as he did. That is expected when the numbers go against you in elections. It cannot excuse the high crimes under Jonathan. Preacher: Still with your Bible and stay away from making economic predictions that are the consequences of Jonathan administration’s treasonable looting and corruption.

    • Author’s gravatar

Well, if a prophet tells buhari that a lamb that once held power might turn into a wolf on retirement it does not imply he told him to abandon the anticorruption war but rather to prosecute all involved irrespective of party affiliation

With Respect to your opinion, I think a lot of Prophet, instead to regard themself as SERVANT OF GOD they call them, men of God, thats why some of them are so proud and power drunk…. GOD will only sent His servants His MESSAGES. Your prediction shows you are purely a politician or you dont have the love for Nigeria, and nigerian,…if not you would not regard Jonathan and his past Regime as if he did something special by stepping down? he lossed the Election….and if some of you mean he can use his power to fight when he did not win, that means you are the people that pushed him EX President Jonathan to mis managed Nigeria. Did you men that surpposed to be servant of God and serve the people, have the Fear of GOD? at all. Ex President Jonathan surpposed to write open letter to all Nigerian to BEG and apologise, with a serious asking for FORGIVENESS from GOD. God has a purpose for making him President by using BABA OBJ, VOTES from majourity of NIGERIAN, the deal giving to him by APC for Good,…but he Ex President Jonathan betray all this….Then what are we talking of….Do you know the story of THE KING AND THE FALSE PROPHET IN THE BIBLE the false prophet refuse the king to rebuke the Israelites by coursing them. Just for your Prediction you are wishing NIGERIAN WOE?,…Let us have THE FEAR OF GOD.Take it as an advice. RESPECT TO YOUR OPINION. LET US PRAY FOR THIS NATION BOTH POOR AND RICH NIGERIA IS OUR COUNTRY

There is nothing more prophetic than asking all the pastors and prophets to return the looted public funds Jonathan shared with them. Doing anything else is unpardonable before man and God. The growth of churches and Mosques activities in Nigeria is highly correlated to the break down in moral and ethical standards. It is time to recognise this and put a stop to it.

Of course, most importantly, Nigeria Journalists should stop giving forums to any of these self-appointed prophets because they are part of the problems of Nigeria. I know the standard of journalism in Nigeria is very poor but that should be a subject for another day.

I think people should appreciate GEJ. I remain supporter of a bold man who save us from possible mayhem. From riots, protest etc. May all Almighty God keep you and guide and your generations to come Amen. You made everyone relevant both your friends and enemies. Long Life GEJ. As for the MOG God rewards you. Keep it up because the truth is very bitter.

We will one day appreciate what Jonathan did for Nigeria. If Buhari had lost that election the war would have been on by now, and would’ve been worse that BH. Remember what happened when he lost election? Now that he is the president he is confused and has been fighting his enemies.

I am not surprised that it is in Nigeria will a religious leader come out in support of maintaining a corrupt profile for his country. He must be making very vigorous and sustained request to his supreme being to wreck every effort to fight corruption in Nigeria.

  • Author’s gravatar

    Fake prophet.
Why on earth would a so-called man of God be indirectly canvassing for corruption to be allowed to continue to reign in this country? And why are so many Nigerians, even the poverty stricken ones, do not want to hear about anyone being called to give an account of our money put in their care?
Talking about Jonathan, come to think of it, did he not complete his 4-year tenure? Was election not conducted by him? Did he have to be the winner? And did he have any right to refuse to leave if he lost? Did those who lost when he contested earlier cause a war? Did he not claim his mandate? So why are we going to keep dwelling on Jonathan “agreeing” to hand over when he lost an election? What else should he normally do and whose template would he say he would be copying in Nigeria by so doing? If he went to court would that have caused a war? Has any other Nigerian president ever contested an election and lost and refused to hand over? So why do we think Jonathan had the right to even do that? Enough of this making Nigeria look like some kind of barbaric country.

    • Author’s gravatar

Excellent points because I am very seek of all the St Jonathan crap. Let’s break down for them:

      “Talking about Jonathan,”

“did he not complete his 4-year tenure?”

“Was election not conducted by him?”

“Did ( MUST) he have to be the winner?”

“did he have any right to refuse to leave if he lost?”

“why are we going to keep dwelling on Jonathan “agreeing” to hand over when he lost an election?”

“Has any other Nigerian president ever contested an election and lost and refused to hand over?”

Can any of the St Jonathan followers kindly answer these questions.

How can some people be so stupid and want progress ?

    • Author’s gravatar

Thank you jare. The man lost and he handed over. What else do they want him to do. Nobody owes Jonathan any thank you for handling over. GEJ knows better. If he had not handed over, he will be given Gbagbo treatment.

It would be better if folks would limit their counsel on what they know something about. This cleric should be ministering to the spiritual needs of his flock and not dabbling into economics and approaches in running the government that he is obviously clueless about. Even if he knows nothing about fighting corruption, he should pray for it to succeed. As for being careful about Jonathan – well, the president would carefully safeguard the constitution and implement rule of law, without fear or favor.

How can we believe all these prediction with what we have seen in 2015 ,This Prophet is not Prophesying ,But playing politics ,We have not forgotten about the 6billion giving to the Can in 2015 .They have not come clean on that they need to return the money so Buhari can add it to the feeding expenses of the school children ,Then we can see them if they go that route as a man of God

    • Author’s gravatar

Thank you Akinde for this useful observation; Nigeria is in ruins, practically all who served under Jona are either on the run or facing multi-billion dollars (yes dollars not Naira) infraction and this man called Primate Elijah turns up to warn us against a man who presided over such silliness in our lives. If he is afraid of being named as a beneficiary of the N6Billion doled out to those shameless clergymen by the clueless one, he should say so. After all the Pastor in Chief (almost wrote in Thief) of the whole charade (Ayo Oritsejafor) has since retreated into the hole from which he cameth to become the religious arm of PDP in the last dispensation.

The time has come for these so called men of God or god of men to shut the fcuk up.

Truth is bitter. You may call this Prophet any name you like, there are stark truth in what he has said and for which PMB and Nigerians need to take good note of. It is true that PMB will not be able to fight corruption to the extent many people expect – especially when there are corrupt people in his very Govt. He is playing politics by shielding them while just focussing on opposition party. It is for PMBs benefit to realise now that continuing along this path will boomerang leading to him ‘shooting himself on the leg’ and turning the entire fight against corruption to comedy. It is in the interest of all Nigerians and Buhari himself that he succeeds in implementing the promised change. Listening to feedbacks from the people he is governing will contribute immensely to this success. God has given him to us at this time and he has all the support he needs. He just cannot afford to misuse the opportunity. He who has ears, let me him hear……..

Do you know how much Sanusi ‘donated’ to Muslim community? Buhari has come to twist our minds against previous govt to make us believehim as a messiah, telling us he met empty treasury and that he is fighting corruption and all that and we are buying it. Stop and think for the country belongs to us and be careful of what politicians tell us. They are a bunch of gold diggers who are not worth dying for, who think they are smarter than you and I, only to enrich themselves and their dependents leaving us poor and helpless. For once think!

Somebody should pull the plug on this jester who like to be called prophet from polluting our sensibilities . The anti-corruption war may consume Jonathan and let the heavens fall. The evil order that the PDP/Jonathan travesty placed with connivance of pay-for-pray charlatans is now being delivered.

  • Author’s gravatar

    who are Buhari’s economic team?

  • Author’s gravatar

    This prophet is a thief.

  • Author’s gravatar

Primate Elijah Ayodele! That name sounds like Elijah Akiode! The very reason why these pseudo-prophets should be ignored is that none of their prophecies have ever come true for Nigeria. They took bribes from GEJ and told too many lies during the 2015 electioneering; but today, we know better. I have always countered them – these counterfeits pastors – and will continue to counter them because Satan is the force actuating them.

We can glean from Akiode’s (sorry, Ayodele’s) drivel, as reflected in the above “arrangee” interview, that he anxiously wants Buhari to leave corruption alone! This speaks volumes about this false prophet – and it is that he was among those who took NSA Sambo Dasuki’s bribe money “for prayers!” Mr Elijah Ayodele says, “The economy needs God’s intervention. Buhari does not have the people to run the government and the economy well.” In other words, Buhari should abdicate his presidency so that God may occupy the office and run Nigeria’s economy. That advice (or prophecy) is obviously Ahitophelian! It is an advice from a wicked mindset! And he may end up like Ahitophel.

“The country needs a lot of prayers …,” Mr Ayodele advises. That’s asking for more money for prayers! But he will not get that from the saint Mohammadu Buhari. The impostors of the Jonathan administration are still active in their campaigns
for Jonathan. These devious “men of God” as well as their complicit journalists are still prowling about because of the humongous bribe money they had collected from Jonathan’s government. Now read this, “Ayodele charged Governor Seriake Dickson to work closely with the grassroots if he is to be victorious, adding that the election might end in a slim victory for him.” Does this not actually reveal Mr Elijah Ayodele as a partisan PDP campaigner?

If GEJ did anything unjust, as I am sure he did many during his 6-year debacle of a tenure, the Buhari administration should deal with him accordingly – even if that means sending him to life imprisonment.
