CAPS charges APC elected officials on performance
THE Conference of All Progressives Congress (APC) State Publicity Secretaries (CAPS) has congratulated the President-elect, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, the party’s governors-elect and members of the National and State Assembly for the overwhelming victory recorded by the party in the 2015 elections.
In a statement yesterday, the Chairman of the Conference, Mr. Joe Igbokwe said the victory places a great responsibilities on the party.
The body said that the spectacular victory of the President-elect and other categories of the APC’s candidates in the election was a grand victory for the forces of change in the country.
The body said that Buhari’s emergence was a vindication of perseverance, integrity, honesty, discipline and hard work, which are attributes difficult to find among Nigerian politicians today.
The statement reads, “We salute Gen. Buhari, an exemplary leader who set a standard in integrity, which has so far, not been bested by any Nigerian leader. We salute his doggedness in the country’s political sphere, which has seen him become Nigerian Abraham Lincoln with a solid history of steadfastness in contesting the country’s presidential election and eventually emerging victorious in the very fourth try. We see this as a just reward for his proven honesty and integrity and a great lesson to every Nigerian both young and old.”
While expressing confidence in the ability of Buhari to attend to the clarion demands of Nigerians to arrest the drift of the Nigerian state and steer it again to prosperity after the disastrous voyage of the past 16 years, the body said that it firmly trust in the President-elect’s capability to once again instill honesty in the conduct of the governance in Nigeria.
The body however called on the governors-elect and other principal officers to work diligently to justify the huge expectations placed on their shoulders by Nigerians.
To Nigerians, CAPS said, “We salute Nigerians for the confidence and trust reposed on our great party in this last election and we pledge that we will not fail their expectations on us in this just concluded election.”
The statement was jointly signed by Arc. Okelo Madukaife,
Mr. Sola Lawal, Rev Phineas Pabio, Fortune Panebi, Mr. Jonathan Vasta and Alhaji Yahaya Bashir.
