The 1995-2001 set of Christ School, Ado-Ekiti, has instituted a yearly scholarship scheme in honour of their old principal, Mr Kehinde Ojo, at the 20th-anniversary reunion of the old students association.

Ojo was the principal who enrolled and graduated the set. He was later appointed Commissioner for Education by Governor Kayode Fayemi, who is also an alumnus of the school.

Omilola Progress Boluwatife, the Best Student in the 2020/2021 Junior Secondary School certificate examination, was the first recipient of the award and he got N100, 000 cash.

The set also gave award to their former teachers, Mrs Ajayi and Mrs. Adigun, for contributing to their upbringing and development in life.

Speaking at the reunion, the pioneer set chairman, Temidayo Akeredolu, said Ojo was rewarded for his contribution to their growth and success.

Akeredolu said the event was put together to appreciate their principal, teachers and the school, for imparting good morals in them and for their mentorship in life.

In his welcome address, Chairman, Central Planning Committee, 1995/2001 set, Mr. Temitope Akerele, expressed gratitude to God, their set principal and vice, teachers and other supporting staff for their support, prayers and training in moulding them to become best version of themselves.

Akerele said: “More than 20 years ago, we walked into the compound of our great school, overjoyed with the realisation that we are now big boys, who just gained admission into one of the best and most competitive school in the whole country. We had a good time, we built confidence, eloquence, discipline, tenacity and friendship.”

An elated Ojo commended the old students for the kind gesture, saying the award has made him a proud teacher. “I will forever cherish this,” Ojo stated, while wishing his former students well in their chosen endeavours. “

The principal, Ebenezer Oso, commended the former students for coming back to their alma mater, saying the school is currently regaining its past glory.
