Court arraigns man for alleged drug hawking

A Federal High Court, Lagos last Friday arraigned a‎ drug hawker, Oga Olaleye Joseph for allegedly selling herbal mixtures in a bus in Lagos as contained in the charge brought by the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC)
He is standing trial on a two-count charge bordering on the alleged offence.

He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Following an application for bail by his counsel, Mrs. Pamela Amadi, Justice Saidu granted the accused bail in the sum of N2 million with one surety in like sum.

The judge insisted that the surety must be a blood relation of the accused.

Saidu however, ordered the remand of the accused at the Ikoyi prisons, until he perfects his bail terms and adjourned the case to March 3 for trial.

According to the charge endorsed by the prosecutor, Shamaki Umar, the accused committed the offence on November 3, 2015.
