Dansol High School holds 15th inter-house sports competition

To boost students’ competitive spirit and nurture talents, Dansol High School, Ikeja, has held the 15th edition of its yearly Inter-House Sport competition.
Speaking at the event held at Agege Stadium, the school Administrator, Olubunmi Falade, said the school places premium on sport activities and encourages students to showcase their talents in sport.

Falade, who noted that this year’s competition was the first time since COVID-19 that the school would hold inter-house sport, said it is an event they always look forward to and is seen as opportunity for students to find expression through sport.

Noting that it was really awesome seeing children happy and competing against each other in a friendly manner, the administrator said the school has made strides in many competitions winning laurels and scholarships to study abroad.

“We are really keen about our students standing out wherever they find themselves,” she said.
To uncover more talents, she stressed the need for the country to always celebrate sport talents and support them to build on their skills.

The school Sport Coordinator, Emmanuel Nwador, expressed satisfaction with the competition, stating that this year’s edition surpassed past events in the area of attendance, support, organisation and even performance.

He said beyond the competition, the school is devoted to grooming talents not only academically, but also in sport.

Nwador explained that the school has a number of students from previous inter house competitions that have travelled abroad for scholarship to pursue their careers, adding that in the competition, they have picked talented athletes and would meet with their parents to draft a special programme for them.

Emphasising the need for sport development in schools, the coordinator advised the Nigerian Athletic Federation to partner with schools and start sending representatives to such competitions to pick talents from the grassroots.

At the end, Oak House won the inter-house sport, while Palm Hose placed second and Cedar House clichéd the third place.

Sport Master, Oak House, Mr Gbenga Oke, with excitement, commended members of his house for winning the completion saying their training paid off.

He stated that the school is particular about nurturing talents and providing them the platform to shine, even on the international stage.

The event was attended by parents, other stakeholders. Also,children participated in track events, ball games, racket matches and board games, which comprises chess, scrabble and snake and ladder.
