25 CSOs endorse Maikudi as substantive UniAbuja VC

As Nigerians await the announcement of a substantive Vice-Chancellor of the University of Abuja any moment from now, over 25 civil society organisations have rallied support for the Acting VC of the institution, Prof. Aisha Maikudi, as the substantive head of the school.

Under the aegis of the Civil Society Coalition for Educational Development, the group decried what it called a campaign of calumny and a gang-up against youth and women in leadership.

Recall that the institution has been embroiled in a crisis over the choice of a new Vice-Chancellor for the school, with allegations of bias against the Governing Council.

Speaking with reporters at a peaceful protest at the school’s permanent site in Abuja on Friday, the leader of the group, Dr Wisdom Chinedu, declared that Prof. Maikudi is the most qualified, insisting that she should be immediately announced as the substantive VC.
