Edo SUBEB gifts UNIBEN’s best student N1 million
The Executive Chairman, Edo State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Dr Paddy Iyamu, has rewarded the best graduating student from the University of Benin, James Ojo Allen with one million naira.
Iyamu, while receiving the student in his office, said Allen got a rewarding Cumulative Grade Point of 4.98, in Petroleum engineering making it the highest since the university’s founding in 1970.
During the meeting, Allen shared challenges in funding his education, which initially led him to teach before securing the Bedrock Scholarship in 2022.
He described the scholarship’s financial support and mentorship programme as instrumental to his academic success.
Iyamu expressed pride in Allen’s accomplishments, saying the government is committed to empowering young leaders to realise their potential, proving that anyone from humble beginnings can achieve greatness.”
To further celebrate his success, Allen gave one million Naira, acknowledging both his hard work and potential in addition to the star prize.
