
The FAO’s Country Representative, Suffyan Koroma, during a workshop in Abuja, said extensive trade and movement of people, livestock and food products had made Africa to be at risk of zoonotic outbreaks.
Speaking on the workshop with the theme, ‘Assessing the knowledge and multi-sectoral mitigation strategies of Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) and abusive antimicrobial usage (AMU), said AMR is a global crisis and a major threat to public health as evidence had shown that the total volume of antibiotics used in food production drives resistance.
