Lagos upgrades central mosque

The Commissioner for Ministry of Home Affairs, Pharm. Uzamat Akibile Yusuf, has commended the executive councils of Lagos Secretarial Community Central Mosque (LSCCM) for upgrading and improving the mosque to international standard.

The Commissioner for Ministry of Home Affairs, Pharm. Uzamat Akibile Yusuf has commended the executive councils of Lagos Secretarial Community Central Mosque (LSCCM) for upgrading and improving the mosque to international standard.

The exco of the prestigious mosque has installed a new 250KVA generator and five big air conditioners in the mosque. The Minber was also remodeled with glass, the security agents were equipped with gadgets and the mosque vehicles were refurbished, couple with lot of spiritual activities incorporated in the mosque activity calendar to nurture peoples mind.

Speaking during the yearly general meeting of LSCCM, the Assistant Director Ministry of Home Affairs, Alhaji Mutahir Olawale Adams, who represented the commissioner expressed appreciation to the exco and the willingness of the ministry to always support the mosque activities. He said: “The role of the mosque is well appreciated, just like that of the entire religious body in the state. The Mosque has been our partner in progress, positive partakers in the affairs of the great state and country.He advised the excos not to relent on their effort in ensuring the mosque maintain international standard.

The Executive Council Chairman, Dr. Afolabi Abiodun Tajudeen, commended the past and present commissioners of Ministry of Home Affairs for their innumerable contributions to the progress and development of the mosque.He reiterated that the job the community placed on the exco is enormous, tasking and quiet challenging.

“Despite the challenges, members of the EXCO were highly determined and prepared to confront the job head-on and triumph. Alhamdulillah with Allah’s guidance and support we have been able to record credible achievements worth reporting and celebrating. It just a third of the journey as we still have two more years to strategically deliver, meet and surpass your expectations Insha Allah.

“Having hit the ground running immediately after our inauguration on 27th September 2018, we put in place strategic plans and ensured compliance with underground rules that are sacrosanct for attainment of our laudable objectives for the mosque. The strategic thinking and brainstorming sessions, though stressful, have yield satisfactory results,” he said.

Tajudeen noted that the exco institionalised prudence, economic and judicious use of mosque resources to exclusion of all forms of financial indiscipline, wastage and environmental infractions.He said the committee with the support of the secretariat served as the engine room for seamlessly conducting the activities of the mosque while the Exco majorly plan, monitor and supervise their activities for timeline results.
