A non-government organisation, Muslim Sisters for Social Justice has appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari to site one of the six newly approved Federal Colleges of Education in Iwo.

The Federal Government had recently approved the creation of new Federal Colleges of Education in six states of the federation, including Osun.

The group lamented that despite that Iwo Federal Constituency has the largest population in Osun State with vast land mass and size; it has no state presence regarding institution of higher learning.

The President of the organization, Mrs. Kudirat Rabiu urged the federal government to put the community into consideration by siting the proposed Federal College of Education in Iwo.

“We believe that you will find it rewarding to consider Iwo for the location of this befitting higher institution as we look forward to your favourable disposition”.

She noted that Iwo Federal Constituency has the largest population in Osun State and it deserve the laudable project. “ We believe in equity and fairness, the constituency deserve this laudable project as the people are visitor friendly and peaceful. It is for this reason that Iwo is nicknamed ‘Iwo ti ko ni ilekun’ ‘ti ko ni kokoro’, meaning a town without door and door,” she said.

“The constituency is made up of Olaoluwa, Ayedire and Iwo Local Governments Areas. Despite its vast land mass and size; it has no federal or state presence regarding institution of higher learning while others are beautified with one” she said.
