A youth-led civic organisation, TOS Foundation, has launched an innovative online platform, the “469 Tracker”, to help Nigerians monitor the position of every federal lawmaker on the Reserved Seats for Women Bill, a landmark legislation aimed at increasing women’s representation in governance.
The digital tool, unveiled in Abuja and accessible at www.469tracker.com, allows citizens to track in real time whether senators and members of the House of Representatives support, oppose, or remain undecided on the bill. The name “469” reflects the total number of members in Nigeria’s National Assembly, 109 senators and 360 representatives.
According to the Founder of TOS Foundation and convener of the Reserved Seats for Women campaign coalition, Osasu Igbinedion Ogwuche, the platform seeks to make governance and political participation more inclusive and relatable, particularly for young Nigerians and women.
“For too long, political participation has felt distant from young people and women. With 469 Tracker, we’re using technology and storytelling to make legislative accountability simple and closer to our digital generation,” Ogwuche said.
She added that the tracker, powered by a team of young tech experts, updates automatically to reflect any change in lawmakers’ stance on the bill, expressing hope that more legislators will rally behind the proposal.
“As a young Nigerian, home or abroad, you can now go on the website, check your state, and see where your representatives stand,” she said.
The Reserved Seats for Women Bill seeks to create 182 additional women-only legislative seats across the federal and state levels, 37 in the Senate, 37 in the House of Representatives, and three in each of the 36 state Houses of Assembly. The bill aims to strengthen women’s political participation and ensure gender balance in decision-making.
The initiative forms part of a broader civic movement integrating open data, media storytelling, and influencer-driven advocacy to mobilise Nigeria’s youth and digital communities in support of inclusive governance. Through social media challenges, newsroom collaborations, and grassroots partnerships, the Foundation plans to use the 469 Tracker to amplify public engagement and legislative accountability.
The campaign has already received high-profile endorsements from political leaders, including Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, Vice President Kashim Shettima, and First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu. It also enjoys backing from the Nigeria Governors’ Forum and the Governors’ Spouses Forum.
Founded as a youth-driven platform at the intersection of technology, media, and social impact, TOS Foundation continues to pioneer innovative approaches to civic engagement, blending popular culture and digital activism to strengthen democracy and public accountability in Nigeria.
