Group to hold pageant to fight cervical cancer
As part of efforts to promote women’s health and draw awareness to the danger cervical cancer poses to the nation, a non-governmental organization, Great Emerald Multi Services in conjunction with 042 Entertainment, Medicaid Cancer Foundation and others, is set to hold a beauty pageant called Queen of Emerald Nigeria to mobilise women to fight the scourge in the country.
The Second edition tagged “ The Beautydom Edition” is scheduled to hold at the Bespoke Event Centre, Lekki, Lagos on Sunday, May 7.Speaking on what inspired the initiative, the event Project Director, Uche Okafor, remarked that the untimely loss of a friend’s sister to cervical cancer and his passion to help humanity infused him with determination to champion the cause.
Speaking on the selection process, Okafor stated that auditions held in 17 states and 37 finalists were chosen and will battle for the ultimate crown. Okafor noted that apart from improving the quality of life of its queens, Emerald Nigeria provides them with opportunities to fly high in their chosen fields as Ambassadors of the brand. He said they also give out mouth-watering prizes to the winners, encouraging beauty and purpose.
Some of the dignitaries billed to receive awards at the event include Desmond Elliot, Dj Cuppy , Oritse Femi , Tchidi Chikere, Victoria Nkong , Adepoju Olukokun, Mercy Makinde and Ayo Animashaun.
