A health expert, Constance King, has launched a mental and physical challenge competition aimed at bringing fun to Africa. The competition, titled ‘Scavenger Hunt Africa’, is inspired by the American TV show ‘The Amazing Race’.
King, who has extensive experience in various healthcare settings, including hospitals, long-term care, hospice, and assisted living, noticed during her research that countries like Nigeria, Ghana, and Sierra Leone, despite their rich cultural heritage, lacked affordable tourist activities.
“With my creative and adventurous spirit, I began brainstorming ways I could introduce something unique to Africa—cultural tours, food tastings, dinner cruises, and more,” she explained.
Having successfully managed several companies that achieved a 100% success rate in state surveys, King further detailed that the competition requires teams to race across their country, completing tasks to remain in the game and compete for a grand prize of N1 million.
“I pitched the idea to my Director, Ashimole Jude Chinonso, and a few friends, and they loved it. From there, everything started falling into place. I built a team, with my Social Media Director, Nobe, creating the logo, and we began the search for contestants and a host,” she shared.
The show will feature six teams living together during the competition. Each day, they must complete challenges to avoid elimination, with the first team to check in winning prizes. Due to Nigeria’s size, the country has been divided into two regions—Abuja and Lagos—where the winning teams from each region will face off for the grand prize. Ultimately, ‘Scavenger Hunt Africa’ plans to visit six African countries, culminating in a final showdown for a prize of 2 million in local currency.
“Teams can consist of family members—siblings, parents, anyone who can help them win. Contestants submit audition tapes, and we select those with the most energy and enthusiasm,” King noted.
With a passion for caring for others, King spent over 25 years in healthcare, providing exceptional care to countless individuals.
She said, “After dedicating my life to the care of others, I felt it was time to take a step back and explore new opportunities for myself. As an avid traveler who has visited 43 countries and all 50 U.S. states, the idea of living abroad intrigued me, and Africa quickly captured my interest.”
Her goal is to provide people the chance to win money while having fun. “I’m hopeful that sponsors will see the potential of this show and join us on this exciting journey,” she expressed.
King also expressed her gratitude to everyone who has supported her in this new adventure—contestants, crew members, sponsors, and more. A special thanks goes to her mother for always encouraging her to pursue her dreams and to her best friend, Gift Ekezie, for steadfast support and belief in her.
Coming from Donalsonville, Georgia, in the United States, with Jamaican roots on her father’s side, King is the proud mother of two children, Tyree and Brittany.
