The Nigeria Medical Association (NMA) Edo State Branch, in collaboration with the Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital (ISTH) and Eseohe Medical Centre, on Friday, offered a free medical outreach programme to residents in Ujemen community, Esan West Local Government Council in Edo State.
The programme, sponsored by Elder Pius Omofuma, Managing Director of GT Fast Food, is part of the company’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives.
Speaking during the outreach programme, Edo NMA Chairman Dr. Eustace Oseghale, accompanied by other members, including NMA Secretary Dr. Iluobe Inegbenosun and Dr. Osazee Obazee, Chairman of the Health Outreach Committee, hailed the philanthropist, Omofuma, for sponsoring the free healthcare programme.
The NMA chairman noted that the programme, organised by the Nigeria Medical Association Edo State Branch in collaboration with the Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital and Eseohe Medical Centre, is to provide free medical services to residents in the grassroots.
He stated that more than 300 individuals received free medical interventions, including eye care services and the dispensation of glasses, eye surgeries at Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital, and general surgical procedures at Eseohe Medical Centre in Ekpoma.
The Ujemen community expressed appreciation to the Edo State NMA and Omofuma for their invaluable support to indigent grassroots people and the successful hosting of the free healthcare programme.
Also, the NMA expressed appreciation to Prof. Vincent Odigie for his mentorship and guidance.
