RxBook debuts at Pharma West Africa to support pharmacy decisions

RxBook offers real-time drug information and decision support for Nigerian pharmacists.

A new digital platform designed to support pharmacy decision-making has been introduced to the Nigerian healthcare sector, with its unveiling at Pharma West Africa.

Developed by EHA Pharma in collaboration with Pharmaplus Nigeria and eHealth Africa, the tool, known as RxBook, aims to address gaps in access to up-to-date medicine information.

The platform was presented as a response to challenges faced by pharmacists who often rely on multiple reference sources, including printed materials that may not reflect current updates such as drug recalls, interactions or revised clinical guidance.

According to the developers, RxBook brings together several functions into a single system. These include medicine search, interaction checks, access to clinical guidance, recall alerts and adverse drug reaction reporting. The platform also integrates procurement support, allowing users to manage medication supply within the same workflow.

Founder of EHA Group, Adam Thompson, said the platform was built to bridge the gap between available medical knowledge and its application in real-time clinical settings.

He noted that fragmented systems often limit how information is used in practice, adding that the aim is to provide a centralised tool that supports decision-making at the point of care.

Also speaking at the event, Ahmad I. Yakasai said the platform reflects collaboration between different parts of the pharmaceutical value chain, including practice, distribution and technology.

He said aligning these elements allows for solutions that better match how pharmacy operations function on a daily basis.

During a live demonstration, Abdulkareem Iyamu of EHA Clinics explained that the platform is designed to connect information and action within a continuous process, enabling healthcare professionals to verify and respond more quickly.

RxBook has been developed with local conditions in mind, incorporating Nigerian drug data, pricing and availability. It is also designed to function both online and offline, a feature intended to support usage in settings with limited connectivity.

Attendees at Pharma West Africa interacted with the platform through demonstrations and onboarding sessions, marking the start of its wider rollout.

Digital tools are increasingly being adopted in Nigeria’s healthcare system, particularly in areas such as diagnostics, patient records and supply management. Platforms like RxBook are part of a broader trend towards integrating technology into clinical workflows.

Healthcare professionals interested in the platform can access further information and registration details via its official website.
