Kogi, NMMA sign MoU on hosting 2021 media awards

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the hosting of the 29th edition of the Nigeria Media Merit Award (NMMA) has been signed between the organisers of the awards and Kogi State government in Lokoja.

Signing the MOU on behalf of the government, the Secretary to the State Government, Mrs. Ayoade Folashade Arike, said the state government was fully ready, saying that necessary mechanism has been put in place for a successful hosting of the awards.

The SSG, who described the theme of the awards, Engaging Kogi State Today for Tomorrow, as appropriate, noted that NMMA engaging the state was a preparation for a better Kogi State and Nigeria.

The team leader of NMMA, Mr. Yemi Akeju, said the award was an avenue to appreciate those who have paid their dues in media industry and to raise the standard of media practice not only in Nigeria but also in Africa at large.

According to him, the vision of the NMMA is to partner with state government to showcase what governments are doing in their various locations.

He said Kogi State was selected to host this year’s edition since Abuja had hosted the event in the past as it is now the turn of the North Central geo political zone.
