Lagos APBN holds professional week, gives career tips to 5,000 students

businessThe Association of Professional Bodies in Nigeria (APBN), Lagos State Chapter, is organising a week-long event tagged, “The Lagos Professional Week,” starting from Monday, October 19 to 24.

The event, according to a statement signed by chairman of the chapter, Dr. Bolarinde J. Patunlola-Ajayi, has as its theme: “Business Without Borders: Taking advantage of International Collaboration.” It is meant to empower professionals to globalise their businesses, take advantage of technical skills as may be required in their various professions by also utilise modern technologies.

The opening day will feature a public lecture at the Nigeria Institute of International Affairs, Kofo Abayomi Street, Victoria Island. The guest speaker is Mr. Gbanga Olaniyan, a surveyor.

The career talk also planned will take place in five public schools in Lagos. More than 5, 000 students are expected to be part of the event, which comes up on Tuesday, October 20.

“Students in public schools need to be helped in their choice of careers, without waiting for them to finish higher education. Therefore, the need to give them the necessary tips,” said Patunola-Ajayi. He added that books, courtesy of University Press Plc., and MTN Foundation would also be given out.

Other activities include a visit to Boys’ Remand Home, in Oregun, Lagos on October 21. The group will join traders at Ipodo Market, Ikeja to observe their weekly environmental sanitation exercise.
